Meetings, meetings, meetings

iphonecalendarThe iPhone calendar app is great but synchonising it with office and home calendars can be a nightmare. The iPhone only syncs over the air to Micrsoft "Exchange" or Apple "MobileMe" accounts. At JPY, we run neither but did have a MeetingMaker server to urgently replace. We wanted iPhone flexibility plus Mac-based access to our schedules and we wanted it all joined-up. And we wanted it now!

10 Gigabit Ethernet for the rest of us

ethernetWhile 10 GigE deployments have been experiencing gradual growth, the technology has primarily been used for inter-switch links. Historically, due to cost/performance and the ability of servers to utilise the full bandwidth of a 10GigE connection, almost all server connections in datacenters have remained at 1 GigE, limiting the amount of network throughput available to each server.

Cumulus marches on

cloudCumulus 7.6.1 update is now released. In all, more than 130 additions, changes and fixes have been included in the latest version of Cumulus.

Most notable among the product's new capabilities is the ability for Cumulus to send automated e-mail notifications when category assignments are made or changed. This enables organisations that use Cumulus categories for project management (in addition to digital asset management) to keep selected employees up to date as assets move through their development pipelines.

HELIOS rental scheme

for_rentFor tough economic times like these, HELIOS has come up with a way to spread the cost of software purchases. Instead of one up-front licence purchase and an ongoing support contract, HELIOS has introduced a software rental scheme.

By renting the software year to year, the customer can budget for equal annual costs and avoid making a disproportionately large investment at the time of purchase. The rental price is one third of the purchase price, per year, and includes support and new versions.
